Installing UgCS for DJI

• To set up the UgCS mobile companion for the UgCS Command & control, first of all, install the latest UgCS for DJI version.

Note: If any previous UgCS for DJI versions had been installed in the past, please uninstall it before the step #1.

• Connect the device to the DJI Remote Control (RC). Make sure the tablet or phone has internet access. Turn on the vehicle and the RC.
• At this moment it should be prompted to choose an app for the USB device – select UgCS for DJI.

Note: If prompt is not shown and DJI-GO is automatically launched, adjust the app settings or uninstall it. It is advised the on prompt to select the application, always use «Just Once» option

• Once UgCS for DJI app opens, accept the required permissions.

Configuring the connection of UgCS for DJI to UgCS server

Attention! To change any settings in UgCS for DJI the drone must be connected to the tablet!
1. Go to the Main Menu and under Live Stream section, open Live Stream Provider.
2. Select UgCS VideoServer.

3. At this point UgCS for DJI should be ready for use.
4. DJI Transcoding:
Allows changing transcoding method and bitrate.
- Use DJI Transcoding. Auto – allows DJI to transcode the stream. Enabled - phone or tablet will transcode the stream. Disabled – transcoding is disabled.
- Data rate, Mbps. Slider allows increasing or decreasing the stream bitrate in order to change the stream performance and quality.

Installation of UCS server and geoserver

1. Start UgCS installer
2. Choose installation language

3. To start installation, click Next

4. Read License Agreement and accept it, to continue the installation process

5. Specify the directory path where UgCS will be installed

6. Following components have to be selected for installation:
a. UCS
b. Geoserver

7. To initiate installation with set parameters, click Next

8. Click Finish to close the installation window

9. Open the UgCS Service Manager - it’s icon will be displayed in Windows system tray. Click on the icon of UgCS Service Manager to reveal control menu:

Note: the status of all services must be “running”. If the status is other than “running”, please check the login, password and access rights of the user, who started the service.

2. Start the UgCS-CC installer and accept the modification of UgCS core files

Configuration of UgCS Client

The followings settings are defined for the situations when the client and the server are on the different PCs
• Start the UGCS client. When UGCS screen appears, select «Choose another server» option and enter following ip:port – [IP address of UCS server]:3334.

• Credentials screen at this point should appear. Please fill it with a valid user credentials.
• In order to connect UgCS client to Geoserver, go to Menu – Main Menu – Configuration – Geoservers, and enter the IP of the server PC instead of “http://localhost”.

 Note: Until no other user is created, during the start no credentials are asked since admin account is used by default.

• Make sure the DJI vehicle is already connected. In the UGCS client it should appear in the vehicle list in the top right corner.

• To enable camera control via keyboard, in UGCS client’s top right corner click on the keyboard icon (Input Mapping) and from the dropdown menu select «Keyboard – payload» option. Input window can be closed. Is also possible to define here any joystick as the payload control device.

• In order to control cameras, user needs to have a control over the vehicle. To gain control, make sure it is not locked by any other user and then click on the vehicle icon in order to open the dropdown menu. Click «Gain control». At this point vehicle has been locked by the current user.

• In the main screen select the vehicle. In keyboard payload control case the camera can be controlled by pressing ↑ / ↓ or W/S keys. To rotate the camera to the left or right, press Q/E keys. Please note that in order to control the camera, UGCS client should be in focus. It is enough to just click anywhere in the UGCS client to focus.

Configuration of VideoPlayer

Attention! VideoPlayer must be configured after installation and configuration of UgCS for DJI.
1. Start the UGCS Video Player client.
2. Enter the same user credentials and connection info:

3. Host: – [IP address of UCS server]:.
4. Press Connect.
5. In the Video Player, click UCS icon.

6. Press “play” button on the bottom left corner of UgCS for DJI.

7. At this point video stream should be available from the drone selected in UgCS Client.
8. Another way of manual streaming is to turn UCS icon off and click “Channel button”.
9. Select the connected vehicle by pressing from selection window.

Note: If it is not, please make sure the Windows Firewall is not blocking the connection. In most cases after some time it should prompt to allow this connection. Otherwise it should be adjusted manually.
